ZION’S GLAD SONGS OF THE MORNING

The Shining Light

F. G. Burroughs M. L. McPhail

On the Christian’s path a shining light appears,
growing bright and brighter with the passing years,
‘Tis the light of wisdom from the realms above,
Ev’ry day increasing like God’s gifts of love.

CHORUS

We will follow its leading,
We will follow its leading,
We will follow its leading all the way:
For that blessed shining light
Will shine more and still more bright,
Even unto the perfect day.

Though no eye hath seen, nor mortal ear hath heard,
All the grace and beauty found in God’s pure word;
Yet His Holy Spirit into truth will guide,
All the trusting ones who in His love abide.

There is nothing covered but shall be revealed
When the books are opened and the rolls unsealed;
So we follow on, to know as we are known,
Tow’rd the perfect day when shadows will have flown.

Before The Great White Throne

(First verse, Dan. 7:9-14. Lu. 9:12) (Second verse, Rev. 3:21; 14:1-5; 19:5-9)
(Third verse, Rev. 19:11-16. Ps. 72.) (Fourth verse, Isa. 25:6-8; 45:22-25, Lu. 3:46.)
(Fifth verse, Rev. 21:3-8, Ps. 67.)

G. M. Bills M. L. McPhail

The hour is fast approaching, When thro’ a fiery stream
Of God’s eternal glory, the judgment throne shall gleam,
When to the Ancient’s presence, the Son of man they bring,
Ten thousand times ten thousand shall crown Him Lord and King.
Oh, that will be a crowning such as earth has never known,
When Christ His kingdom shall receive before the great White Throne;
When Christ His kingdom shall receive before the great White Throne.

And there will be presented the Church, His worthy bride,
Those faultless virgins chosen, His joint-heirs to abide;
They share His royal honors, His nature, and His throne,
While written in their foreheads His Father’s name is shown.
Oh, that will be a marriage such as earth has never known,
When the bride and bridegroom are made one before the great white throne;
When the bride and bridegroom are made one before the great white throne.

Lo! One with crimson vesture, His name-the Word of God,
Shall lead His shining armies and wield the iron rod;
His word shall smite the nations, His feet the winepress tread,
Until the fiends of error from earth have ever fled.
Oh, that will be a conquest such as earth has never known,
When the kings of earth their honors lay before the great white throne;
When the kings of earth their honors lay before the great white throne.

The resurrected myriads of ev’ry land and tongue
Will haste to swear allegiance to God’s anointed Son;
Drawn to the blood-stained altar, the ransomed host shall fall
In grateful adoration, and crown Him Lord of all.
Oh, that will be a triumph such as earth has never known,
When ev’ry knee is bowing low before the great white throne;
When ev’ry knee is bowing low before the great white throne.

How grand the consummation, with death and hell destroyed;
No traitor left to darken the Eden then enjoyed;
With not a note discordant, than universal song
Shall thro’ eternal cycles Jehovah’s praise prolong.
Oh, that will be an anthem such as earth has never known,
When the Hallelujah chorus rings before the great white throne;
When the Hallelujah chorus rings before the great white throne.

Oh, I Am So Happy

F. G. Burroughs M. L. McPhail

Oh, I am so happy all the day,
My burdens have all rolled away;
I cast all my care on Christ, my Lord,
And I’m trusting in His precious word.

CHORUS
I know I am His and He is mine,
My all to His care I now resign;
No foe can my peaceful spirit harm
While I lean on my Beloved’s arm.

Oh, I am so happy all the time,
Hopes bells of joy so sweetly chime;
And goodness and mercy shall attend
all my Journey to its blissful end.

Oh, I am so happy in the Lord,
He is my shield and my reward;
No valley of shadow will I fear
While my Comforter and Guide is near.

I’m Nearing the Goal

G. M. Bills M. L. McPhail

Not too fast

While on the broad road to destruction I strayed,
The Spirit my vileness revealed;
I saw all my woes on Immanuel laid,
And knew by His stripes I was healed.

CHORUS

I’m nearing the goal, yes, nearing the goal,
The goal of eternal reward;
I soon will be there, forever to share
The glory of Jesus, my Lord.

When Jesus anointed my eyes to behold
The prize that the faithful may win;
I entered the race for a city of gold,
And fled from the pleasures of sin.

Let lovers of pleasure intently pursue
The phantoms of folly and pride;
Eternity’s joys I am keeping in view,
As onward to glory I glide.

The servants of mammon may gather in mirth
To jeer at my station unknown;’
My lot may be cast with the humble of earth,
yet I am an heir to a throne.

Tho’ demons are strewing my pathway with thorns,
Determined to cause my delay,
My soul their devices of cruelty scorns,
And hasteth to finish her way.

The yoke of my Master is easy to wear;
The cross that I’m bearing is light;
His love everlasting is soothing my care,
And giving me songs in the night.

Jubilee Echoes

G. M. Bills M. L. McPhail

Listen to the voice celestial,
Ye whose eyes with weeping fail.
God reveals His gracious purpose,
To the soul in sorrows vale:
There will be no hopeless sadness,
In the new earth’s golden years,
Blissful years replete with gladness,
God shall wipe away all tears,
God shall wipe away all tears.

Ev?ry tomb shall be deserted,
Harps of jubilee shall ring;
Ruthless grave, where is thy triumph
Cruel death, where is thy sting
Sing the blest emancipation,
Every creature that hath breath,
Life shall quicken all creation,
There shall thenceforth be no death,
There shall thenceforth be no death.

No more widowed hearts repining,
No more hungry, homeless souls,
When the earth shall bloom as Eden,
And the Prince of Peace controls;
When the ransomed hosts are singing
Not an echo of despair
In His vast dominion ringing
“There shall be no sorrow there,”
“There shall be no sorrow there.”

With the living waters flowing,
And His saving health made known,
Ev?ry cheek with beauty glowing;
Ev?ry friend of evil flown.
God will scatter leaves of healing,
For each loyal heart and brain,
All his matchless love revealing,
There shall henceforth be no pain,
There shall henceforth be no pain.

When the Crowning Day Shall Come

G. M. Bills M. L. McPhail

When the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah.
And the angel of the harvest shall bring.
All His jewels that are sealed in their foreheads,
To the grand eternal home of the King;
Oh what radiance will light ev?ry feature,
That was once with thorns of suffering scarred;
And what majesty shall crown the New Creature,
When the everlasting gates are unbarred.

CHORUS
When the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah.
And the saints of God are gathered above,
Will we join the shining ranks of the faithful.
Shall we wear the blessed seal of His love?

When the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah
And His loving smile with rapture shall thrill
All the holy ones who stand with the Bridegroom,
On the heights of Zion’s glorious hill;
Then the eyes that see the King in His beauty,
Nevermore a tear of sorrow shall shed;
While the feet that trod the thorn path of duty,
Shall the heights of immortality tread.

When the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah.
And the saints the judgment scepter shall take,
All earth’s tyrants and their schemes of oppression,
As a cursed potter’s vessel to break;
Then the slaves of error, freed from their blindness,
Shall with gladness leave their bondage and strife,
And be welcomed by the Spirit of Kindness,
To the ever flowing waters of life.

Oh, the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah
‘Tis this blessed hope that filleth my soul;
It is now my daily aim and ambition
To be pure, and free from worldly control’
Well assured of an eternal salvation,
If the path of consecration I tread,
I am looking for my blest recreation,
In the likeness of my heavenly Head.

last CHORUS
When the crowning day shall come, Hallelujah.
And the saints of God are gathered above,
We shall join the shining ranks of the faithful.
We shall wear the blessed seal of His love.

Fullness of Joy

Ps. 16:11

Mrs. M. L. Herr.         M. L. McPhail

Tis sweet in the presence of Jesus to dwell,
Tho troubles and trials annoy,
To constantly feel His approval and smiles:
In this there is fullness of joy

CHORUS
Fullness of joy. yes, fullness of joy,
Serving our Master with hearts full of joy.
Soon we will finish our work here below,
With fullness of joy unto Him we shall go

Abundantly furnished with grace for our needs,
When Satan attempts to decoy,
Christ flies to our rescue – to victory leads:
In this there is fullness of joy

To work for our Lord is a privilege rare,
Each moment of time to employ;
Co reapers with Him in the harvest to share:
In this there is fullness of joy.

O glorious prospect – if faithful till death
Of bliss that no foe can destroy.
Made one with the Bridegroom, all nations to bless:
In this there is fullness of joy.

I’m Running for the Prize Divine

G. M. Bills     M. L. McPhail

I once reclined in Satan’s coils, Quite willing to remain;
I coveted earth’s sinful spoils, I sought its golden gains;
But now its charms have passed away, Its treasures are but dross,
I’m in the Christian race today, I started at the cross.

CHORUS

I’m running for the prize divine, Joint heirship with my Lord;
Earth and its honors I resign To gain this great reward.

God called me while I wandered still, His voice my spirit charmed;
The tragic scenes on Calvry’s hill My rebel will disarmed:
The Savior whispered to my soul – Believe and follow me;
Immortal heirship is thy goal, Since I have chosen Thee.

My blest election to retain, My calling to make sure,
I still must run thro’ toil and pain, And to the end endure;
An earthly home may not be mine, Yet in exchange there stands
For me a building all divine – A home not made with hands.

Earth’s royal palaces may fall, Her marble turn to dust,
Her sweetest pleasure change to gall, Her gold and silver rust;
But for a city I am bound Whose walls eternal shine;
Where with my dear Redeemer crowned, The kingdom shall be mine.

Now are We the Sons of God

G. M. Bills M. L. McPhail

Now are we the sons of God, Heirs with Jesus Christ, our Lord;
Now for Him the cross we bear, That we may His glory share.

CHORUS
Hallelujah. what a prize Faith beholds beyond the skies.
Hallelujah, praise the Lord. Now are we the sons of God.

Now are we the sons of God; Oh, what bliss these words record.
All the Father hath we claim, Thro’ the dear Redeemers Name.

Now are we the sons of God, Bought and sealed with Jesus blood;
And when gathered home above, We shall be like Him we love.

In That Day

J. McPhail    John McPhail

All those who love and obey my word, In that day, In that day,
They shall receive a great reward In that day.

CHORUS

They to my precepts are always true, Doing my will in the work they do,
I shall be with them and grown them too, In that day.

They shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, In that day, In that day,
When I shall make my jewels up In that day.

They shall be with me forever more, In that day, In that day,
And all their trials will be o’er In that day.

O Christ, Our Immortality

G. M. Bills     M. L. McPhail

O Christ, our immortality, We have no life except in Thee;
Thou art our resurrection breath, And without Thee is endless death.

CHORUS

Immortality, Immortality Is Jesus’ gift to me;
Life and light divine, thro’ the blood are mine; And endless victory.

O Christ, our immortality, Amid earth’s storms to Thee we flee.
No wind this Solid Rock can break, No flood this Sure Foundation shake.

O Christ, our immortality, Our safety is to hide in Thee;
Thy blest Redemption now we claim And life receive thro’ Jesus’ name.

O Christ, our immortality, Death has no sting nor victory,
Since for Thy people Thou didst win The great salvation from all sin.

O Christ, our immortality, No darkness can be found in Thee;
And in to ev’ry trusting heart Thou dost the light and life impart.
